Kathy Nelson, a Longmont resident originally from Indiana,wrote the lyrics and music for this incredible song(!), and generously sent it to us, so we are happy to share it here. Rousing, inspiring, beautifully written — we think it just might be our adopted anthem! GREAT LINES throughout! I asked Kathy to give us some background:
“A little bit about me. I’m 72, from IN, been living in Longmont for 20 years. I’ve been a musician since the age of 6 and I’ve been songwriting, off and on, for about 40 years. The song We Aren’t Going Back was written in 2024, inspired by Kamala Harris campaign…Now that we are becoming a shit hole country I’m hoping the song will inspire more people to vote in the midterms to turn things around. I also made the imovie for it.”
