Food Bank Donation Resources…

On Nov. 1, 600,000 Coloradans, including many children, will be directly affected by the suspension of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the republican shutdown. Governor Polis is seeking state legislative approval for emergency funds to support food banks, but this funding is a temporary measure and will not cover all lost federal benefits. Please consider donating monetarily to local food banks (more on why in the video, below), because they will be overwhelmed especially right now, and they know best how to use their resources. It’s a good idea to check their websites first before donating:

ALSO please watch the Elizabeth Cronise McGlaughlin Resistance Live video, below. At timestamp 8:13, she covers the importance of monetary contributions to food banks, but also stresses the urgency of folks taking an active role, in your own neighborhoods, to address food insecurity — and ways to do so —especially right now. The rest of the video is also very good, as are all of McGlaughlin’s broadcasts, providing action oriented steps you can take during these challenging times — “Be a part of the solution, however small your role may be…Solutions exist. There is power in people organizing. There are way more of us than there are of them.” We highly recommend these Tuesday through Friday videos (go to youtube, enter a search for “Elizabeth Cronise McGlaughlin Resistance Live”. You might like these videos so much that you’ll subscribe for as little as $5/month.) VIDEO:

Donate Button for Boulder County Indivisibles, see details, below:

Forever Indivisible Resistance Engagement (FIRE) has started a “Boulder County Indivisibles” virtual food bank team for making monetary donations to Community Food Share. We’re helping our neighbors experiencing food insecurity access healthy, nutritious food. Join us, and together, we can do even more.

Rising costs of food and health care, along with the expiration of SNAP benefits mean that more and more people across our community must make difficult choices, like paying bills, buying medications, or buying food. Our Boulder County Indivisibles team is raising money for Community Food Share so that our neighbors don’t have to make those types of choices.  Each $1 donated can help provide $6 worth of groceries!  Your gift will help provide fresh, nutritious food across Boulder and Broomfield Counties. Donating is fast, easy, and secure… and you can be sure that it will benefit a great cause!

Perfectly and tragically put:

OBAMA: It’s fair to say that 80% of the world’s problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won’t let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.
