OUR POLICY & PRACTICES —
Longmont Area Democrats (LAD) does not endorse any candidate in non-partisan elections, such as city council or school board, nor does it endorse any candidate in the pre-primary phase of any election. We are all about voter education, and providing voters with as much info as possible, so as to make an informed decision on their ballot. We advocate for a robust, highly participatory democracy, and for progressive and democratic majorities that advance policies for the issues we care about.
To see where LAD stands, you can click the “Where We Stand” widget at longmontdems.org
LAD presents meetings and participates in events that are open to the public. Candidates seen attending our meetings or participating in our public events do not indicate an endorsement by, or an alliance with, LAD.
We are happy to post candidate campaign events in this blast to enable voters to get to know the candidates, but it does not indicate an alliance with, nor an endorsement of that candidate, by LAD.
Candidates can email event details to longmontareadems@gmail.com with “Candidate Event” in the subject line.
LAD has 2 candidate forums coming up in September (Councilor seats) and October (Mayoral and School Board seats), details below. Because there is no primary for the City Council and School Board election on Nov. 4, all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, or no affiliation, depending on the seat they are running for, have been invited to their corresponding forum to present their campaign, and answer questions submitted by the LAD Board, as well as questions submitted by Longmont residents.
LAD will not co-host either of our forums with any candidate campaign. And it is strictly against our policy for any candidate campaign to give the impression of an alliance with LAD, or infer that their campaign is hosting either, or both, of our candidate forums.
