Resource Document for the LAD 3/5/25 Meeting
LAD MEETING: SD-17 CANDIDATE FORUM, Wednesday, March 5, 6:30pm, via zoom. Longmont is wholly contained in State Senate District 17 (SD-17). On February 18, State Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis (SD-17) resigned, setting in motion the process of filling her now vacant seat. That means, as per Colorado Democratic (State) Party, and Boulder County Democratic Party rules, a Vacancy Committee, comprised of all SD-17 Precinct Organizers, a set of officers, elected representatives from districts overlapping SD-17 (for example, State Representative Karen McCormick, HD-11), and other party members, will convene on March 18, and elect a candidate to fill that vacancy from the 8 known Democratic candidates who have stepped up so far.
