Meet and greet and get to know the courageous people who are on the front lines of the struggle for just and humane immigration reform! Please join us for appetizers and drinks and help build a strong statewide campaign to keep immigrant families together! CIRC is a statewide, membership-based coalition of immigrant, faith, labor, youth, community, business and ally organizations founded in 2002 to improve the lives of immigrants and refugees in Colorado. CIRC achieves this mission through non-partisan civic engagement, public education, and advocating for workable, fair and humane immigration policies. TOWN HALL, Thursday, April 18th, 6:00-7:30pm, Longmont City Council Chambers, 350 Kimbark, Longmont  with State Senator Matt Jones (SD17), State Representatives Jonathan Singer (HD11) and Mike Foote (HD12). Don Haddad, Superintendent of St. Vrain Valley School District and Will Gohl from the office of Senator Mike Johnston will be on hand to discuss education, specifically the SB 213 — Future School Finance Act. Come join us in what will be a very informative evening.

Featured speakers are Dr. Anthony Ingraffea, Professor of Engineering in Cornell University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a renowned expert on fracturing mechanics and its threats, and Dr. Geoffrey Thyne, author or co-author of over 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers, he will speak to the complexities of research and the influence of industry and government in academic settings. Panel discussions covering  Organizing Your Community, Health Ramifications of Water and Air Quality, Economic Ramifications of the Fracking Boom. Speakers include Sam Schabacker (Food and Water Watch), Phil Doe (Be The Change), Wes Wilson (Retired EPA), Shane Davis, Jeanne Basset (Environment Colorado) & Pete Morton.

CINCO DE MAYO:
Great Food and Fun! 11th Annual Longmont Celebrates Cinco de Mayo, Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 11am-6pm, Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Ave, Longmont. Last year’s event boasted over 65 local nonprofit and vendor booths, over 40 vehicles in the car show, and over 7000 attendees.
